Day by Day Itinerary
Welcome, or Jambo, as the locals say! Your guide is expecting you at the airport and will accompany you to your hotel. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure and relax from the flight. Or how about a stroll through the city with optional visits to sites like the National Museum or the fascinating Karen Blixen museum? After this exciting day, spend a tranquil night at your hotel because your safari adventure begins tomorrow!
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel, before checking out and driving to Amboseli National Park. The name Amboseli comes from the Maa word for ‘salty, dusty place’, a reference to the salty volcanic ash that spewed from the volcano tens of thousands of years ago. The park is one of the most fascinating and bio-diverse protected areas on the continent. On its territory there are five distinct habitats – open grasslands, acacia woods, scrub steppe, swamps and marshland. Enjoy an en-route game drive on the way to your lodge in the heart of the park. Upon arrival, settle in for a relaxing evening and take in the breathtaking view of Mount Kilimanjaro, which looms dramatically on the horizon.
Wake up early and have a delicious breakfast at the lodge. Then it’s time to move on towards Tsavo West National Park. With an enroute game drive, proceed to Tsavo West National Park. Lunch is served upon arrival at the lodge.
Take a rest and then head out to explore this fascinating park. Tsavo West is famous for its diverse scenery with spectacular lava flows and rocky volcanic cones. The Shetani lava flow provides a good opportunity to see the remains of the Chyulu eruption that devastated the region about 300 years ago.
In the afternoon, take an excursion to Mzima Springs, where hippos, crocodiles, and tropical fish are the main attractions. Spend a relaxing evening at the lodge and finally drift off to sleep surrounded by the sounds of the wilderness.
Rise and shine! Another wonderful day at Tsavo West awaits you! Together with Tsavo East, the park forms the largest national park in Kenya. Depart early for a full day game drive. Ride through spectacular scenery and spot Tsavo’s main attraction, the red elephants – colored this way because of the red soil in Tsavo. If you are lucky you will see plenty of rhinos, lions and many other species as they roam the grasslands. Return to your lodge before nightfall to a delicious dinner and a good night’s sleep.
Enjoy another amazing breakfast at your lodge. Then head out towards Nairobi, but not without another game drive on your way out. In Nairobi, your guide will transfer you to the airport. Check in and board your flight home. This adventure might be over, but Kenya has a lot more to offer and is always ready to welcome you back. Goodbye for now!
